Road safety is my responsibility!
The Campaign will address the following challenges amongst first time road users:
First-time road users have not received the proper basic skills to take on the numerous challenges to effectively reduce road fatalities in the early stages of their driving experience. The Arrive Alive statistics confirms this.
It influences:
1. Personal safety as well as the safety of other road users, statistically confirmed,
2. Vehicle handling, basic aspects that are not transferred when acquiring a licence.
3. Experienced learning by doing & participating that brings confidence, creates awareness via practical lessons like the teaching of doing flat tire changes.
International stats confirm: Almost 75% of new road users will not be able to change a tyre comfortably.
The only known Road Safety Activist in SA, Arrive Alive has identified this big lack of South African new road users and has random campaigns but none of them is specifically focussed on the new driver segment.
The elements covered will be:
1. Basic car operations outside the scope of receiving a driver's licence: Flat tyre, car operation warnings and basic car preparation elements.
2. Offensive and Defensive driving skills, basic road condition awareness skills transfer.
3. Basic First Aid & Introduction to the FA1 &FA2 courses and service providers in their area.
4. Hijacking preparedness skills.
5. Road use and alcohol consumption oversight via data and visual support.
6. Tyre and proper Tyre use (Handled by our Tyre Sponsor Partners)
7. Car Insurance and Accident Procedures, are handled by our Car Insurance Partners. This group we are talking to pays an extremely high premium for Insurance due to the nature of claims in their category (age 18 to 25)
